Every road trip has a beginning and every road trip has a final destination. Many of them have a return trip as well. Sometimes even the best laid plans lead to side trips that weren’t planned, changes to the itinerary, or even a complete remapping of the course. Used travel trailers out on the road are veterans at all of the above because they are the consummate road trippers. They have been everywhere, seen everything and done everything. As the driver, the RVer has enjoyed it all.
One thing that many owners of used travel trailers continue to mention in comments of what they love about RVing is the “perfect small town.” Some have one in mind. Sometimes they found it because someone recommended it. Others discovered a little known spot in the course of travel research and fell in love as soon as they heard about it. Then there are those who found themselves surprise visitors in small towns they didn’t even know existed beyond the sign on the highway due to unforeseen events.
That’s right, unforeseen events like flat tires, overheated engines, broken luggage racks, broken belts, etc. These events are hated and feared by all. But many who have experienced them will tell you that they discovered their own “perfect small town” in the midst of their vehicles overhaul. Some even find themselves returning year after year or stopping regularly on their way to other destinations.
The “perfect small town” is going to mean something different to every RVer so attempt to avoid contention regarding the matter when making recommendations to others. Remember that perfection always carries a lot of personal meaning so be willing to accept that your perfect won’t be the same idea of perfect that is being carried around in every RV out there on the road. It doesn’t matter how the “perfect” small town was discovered. The beauty is in the discovery. Take note of everything around you and enjoy the scenery. It’s one of the exclusive benefits of RV travel and one that can lead to new travels, new friends and new experiences over and over again.
