Pedata RV Center published an article on basic first aid and injury prevention techniques for use during RV travel this summer. RVing tips and hints on both avoiding injury and treating injury, should it occur, are meant to increase general awareness and result in a decrease of actual injury during RV travel and popular outdoor recreational activities.
Gerard Pedata of Pedata RV Center recommends, “Every RV travel plan should include at least one person in the party obtaining some basic first aid and life saving training. This is important at all times, but even more important when traveling. There can be points during RV travel when the party is not close to medical aid and may not even be close to other travelers who may be able to help.”
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted studies that indicated that the most common injuries from outdoor recreational activities are fractures and sprains. This indicates that basic first aid would be of help to those who enjoy these types of activities. Activities that resulted in the highest number of injuries were: snowboarding, sledding and hiking.
